Dive Team
Our goal is that every diver has fun, enjoys the sport of diving, and develops to their potential. Everyone is encouraged to give diving a try. Practice will be in the late afternoon Monday thru Friday beginning June 1. After the school year ends, practices on Monday and Tuesday will be mid-day and practices on Wednesday thru Friday will be late afternoon. Actual times for practice will not be set until May when we have a better idea of team participation. Practice times will coordinate with swim team so that participation in both teams is possible.
Our first two seasons were highly successful and we have already progressed from Division 8 to Division 6. For the 2010 season, we will compete in Division 6 against Rolling Hills, Parliament, Sleepy Hollow, Tuckahoe and Lakeview. We are also looking forward to scheduling several developmental meets with area pools that have dive teams.
“A” dive meets will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning June 29th and continuing until July 27th. Divisionals will be held on Sunday August 1st and All Stars will be Sunday August 8th. “B” meets will be scheduled several times throughout the season either on a weeknight or on Sunday morning. These meets will be scheduled so as not to overlap with swim team.
We are excited to announce that the head coach from our successful first two seasons, Alison Sharp will be returning. Alison has been the dive coach at TC Williams for six years and has been coaching diving since 1999. To register, print out a registration form from the WCRA web site and deliver it to the address listed. Be sure to get your registration in by MAY 3 to guarantee your requested T-shirt size. Please include your email address on the registration as a large part of our communications will be via email. And don’t forget to include your pool number too.
The making of a great dive program will require parent volunteers. Many opportunities are available. MEET VOLUNTEERS
We will need 6 volunteers to run each meet. Each meet will require:
- 2/3 Table Workers
- 2 or 3 Judges
- 1 Announcer (Home meets ONLY)
- 2 Snack Bar (Home Meets ONLY)
We will post sign up sheets for each meet on the dive team bulletin board (once it is hung up) at the pool. Please attend relevant trainings and be sure to check the board for volunteer needs when you are at the pool.
